Pre-order store is OPEN
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 13, 2020 at 08:54:23 AM

Hey DreadSTARS-

Wanted to drop everyone a quick note to let you all know that, like the headline says, the pre-order store is now live!

Now, everyone pay attention here because I needed to have this next part explained to me 12 times before I understood it. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer though, so I'm sure you guys will get it much faster than I did.

The pre-order store is DIFFERENT than adding things on to your account (otherwise known as "ADD-ONS" in the common tongue). Only one pre-order is allowed through Kickstarter/Backerkit per email address. So your already-existing pledge made during the campaign is technically considered your pre-order. If you try to pre-order something else using the same email address as you did for the campaign, basically, the universe explodes. The surveys get all screwed up, civilization comes to an end, dogs and cats living together... you get the idea.

So DON'T try to pre-order from the same email address. However, if there's something you want to pre-order, there's a solution. Just do it from a second email address, you'll get two surveys when they go out, you won't be double-charged shipping and the earth will continue spinning on its axis.

As far as ADD-ONS go, once the surveys go out, it's the wild, wild west. Add on to your heart's content. There's gonna be plenty of stuff from the campaign; t-shirts, prints and the like, available and you'll also be able to add on the stretch goal stuff if you want extras.

Speaking of the stretch goals, here's a peek at a few of those items:

Not too shabby, right? Even as I type this, Ron Marz is cleaning his reading glasses and getting ready to proofread the copy for the cards.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, "this all makes sense, I guess. But how do I get to the pre-order store?" Well, wonder no further! Here's the link!

PRE-ORDER HERE (from a different email address!)

That's all for today, guys, but you never know when you'll get another one of these updates. Keep watching the skies and stay safe!

Dreadstar officially Returns!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 11, 2020 at 11:15:14 PM

DreadSTARS!

Thanks to all of you, we did it! Dreadstar will officially be returning to all our our lives in the very near future.

Over the final twenty-four hours, there was a tremendous surge of effort to share the campaign, along with an accompanying flood of new backers, that ultimately unlocked every single last stretch goal. A special shout out to backer Tom Allen (who probably has a future as a grassroots campaign organizer), for his ongoing efforts yesterday to rally the troops and push the campaign towards those last two goals. Take a bow, Tom!

Running the Kickstarter campaign is the hard part of this whole process. Now comes the fun, as we work hand-in-hand with Jim Starlin to put together the best possible package for Dreadstar Returns, as well as turn our attention to the production of the various rewards. Among other things, there sure are an awful lot of shirts and prints to produce but, like the kids say, these are first world problems to have.

From a logistical point of view, Kickstarter has begun the process of collecting pledges so please be sure your payment information is current. There's a typical window of fourteen days to collect the funds but please don't wait until the last minute to update your account. We'd hate to see anyone lose out on their chance to get a copy of the book. There are currently no plans for Dreadstar Returns to be sold through the direct market, meaning this campaign is the only way to obtain a copy for now.

A sincere thank you, everyone, for believing in this project. This campaign has been an incredible ride from start to finish.  As amazing as the whole journey has been, this is one instance where, truly, the best is yet to come because at the end of this trip, we'll be reading something that once seemed impossible: a new Dreadstar project written and drawn by Jim Starlin himself!

And for those of you that have been asking about a collection of the Peter David Dreadstar material, stay tuned. If Dreadstar Returns is possible, we may just have some good news for you by the end of the year.

Stay safe out there.

The Final Countdown!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 11, 2020 at 01:26:54 AM

We’re in the final hours of the Dreadstar Returns campaign, which winds up tonight at 11:39 p.m. Eastern. We have literally hours to get the graphic novel, omnibus editions, and Guidebook into the hands of the Dreadstar faithful, add to amazing total for the campaign, and unlock the Jim Starlin print set at $125,000 for physical backers. The set will include a Jim Starlin hand signed print if we reach the $130,000 level.

Here’s a handy link you can share on your social media, to bring your friends to the campaign page: https://bit.ly/dreadstar

This has been perhaps the most gratifying campaign we have ever presented. The opportunity to partner with Jim Starlin as he returns to the drawing board, and to his most personal character, is truly a gift. The response has been amazing, and you have helped us smash almost every stretch goal so far. Physical backers will receive each and everyone of these items :

  • Selection of DreadStar color art prints
  • Metallic book mark
  • Metallic print
  • Extra art pages in the DreadStar Guidebook
  • Jim Starlin signed bookplate!
  • Dreadstar trading card set
  • and let's not forget, Dreadstar Returns !!!

There’s still time for digital-only backers to upgrade to a physical reward in order to receive physical stretch rewards!

Thank you so much for your support throughout this monumental campaign. Let’s make these last hours count, and get us to those last stretch goals!

One More Day!
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 10, 2020 at 02:34:26 AM

We’re down to almost the final 24 hours of the Dreadstar Returns campaign, and we’re making great progress! As of this writing, the campaign has crossed the $121,000 barrier, and we’re speeding toward that $125,000 stretch goal to unlock the Jim Starlin print set. Let’s keep up that momentum, and reach the $130,000 goal to unlock a Jim Starlin signature for the print set!

Please continue to like, share, and follow the Dreadstar Returns campaign, because it’s definitely working! Thank you all so much for your efforts in helping bring this project to life, and make this new Dreadstar story a reality. This is already the most successful campaign we’ve ever had, so let’s use our last day to make it even bigger!

Ultimate Stretch Goal!
almost 4 years ago – Sat, May 09, 2020 at 08:13:22 AM

With two days left in the Dreadstar Returns campaign, we’re ramping up for a big finish, and adding our final stretch goals so we have something amazing to reach for!

When we top the $125,000 barrier, every physical backer will receive a limited edition print set featuring the five cover images of the Dreadstar volumes in this campaign: Dreadstar Returns, the Dreadstar Guidebook, and Volumes 1-3 of the Dreadstar Omnibus, all featuring art by Jim Starlin. The print set will be packaged in an exclusive envelope featuring the Dreadstar symbol.

If the campaign tops the $130,000 barrier, the Dreadstar Returns print in the set will be hand-signed by Jim Starlin, with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.

The Dreadstar Campaign will end Sunday evening, so we’ve got some work to do! Please like, share and follow on your social media channels, so everyone knows about Dreadstar’s triumphant return. Help us by reaching out and spreading the campaign, so the print set can be unlocked!
